MyEZ Car Care was formed in 2004 to address the consumer’s need to conveniently and efficiently maintain their vehicles in a way that enhances safety, reliability, and value. A fragmented preventive maintenance industry makes it difficult for all but the most disciplined consumer to properly maintain their vehicles and the Electronic Glove Box® was born. The Company then expanded its offering to include discounts on vehicle maintenance, rental cars, hotels, vacations at over 15000 locations often saving members the modest membership fee on first use. All memberships are co-branded with the selling company adding loyalty and marketing value to the selling dealership and auto finance company, while providing loyal customers to its service provider partners. From the beginning, the mission of the Company has been to develop products to be consumer-, credit union-, and dealer-friendly, while reflecting positively on the corporate citizenship of the credit union, dealer, and service provider.
The Company continues to build out its discount service infrastructure as well as hotel, rental car and vacation discount providers, having over 7000 vehicle service providers in all 50 states and Canada; over 7000 hotels; 200,000 vacation properties and rental cars everywhere, all giving myEZ Car Care members discounts every day.
Edward J. “Ed” Bourgeois, CPA, is President and CEO of the Company and has been in the financial services industry over 30 years. Ed has served in the roles of Controller, Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and Director for several community banks and has been responsible for the operations of one of only two non-prime auto finance banks in the United States. It was from this vantage point that Ed realized consumers and small fleets struggle with the proper maintenance of their vehicles. From his view, Ed saw that the consumer needed help keeping track of preventive maintenance and being reminded when services are due. He found that the task of preventive maintenance is further exacerbated in the US in that the car care industry is severely fragmented with over 16,000 fast lubes, 20,000 oil change plus stores like Goodyear, Firestone, Pep Boys, WalMart and the like and 20,000 new car franchise dealers all trying to get the attention of the vehicle owner.
To pull the pieces together, the Electronic Glove Box® was created to eliminate the need for the stack of papers in the glove box, by putting the information at the consumer’s fingertips, available 24/7 from any internet portal. The automatic updating of these maintenance records on-line was also a priority for Ed, as automation and convenience are keys to the Program. Value is another key component to myEZ Car Care which is why the Company now has over 15,000 locations giving its members discounts every day on vehicle maintenance, hotels, rental cars, vacations and more. At the end of the day, the consumer enjoys the discounts, convenience, increased safety and efficiency and recoups the cost of the Program with the first discount received. As a bonus, when it’s time to sell or trade the vehicle leading experts say that a well maintained and documented vehicle will receive 7 – 10% more in value at time of sale.
